Want To Keep Your Bouquet Last Longer ? Read Through The Tips & Tricks

Spring is officially here!! Which means more colours and Fragrences around!!! I can’t really wait to see my Spring garden coming up as planned and prepped from last year & have fresh garden flowers to decorate my home. I never buy a bouquet that often, but whenever I get one for myself or a loved one, I want it to stay it fresh and longer. By following a few tips and tricks, you’ll be able to keep your flowers looking good for as long as possible.

Also share these tips with your friends and family, they will be very glad to know how to properly care for their bouquet.

1. Let’s Start With A Clean Vase

Make sure you thoroughly clean your vase before using it, it doesn’t matter whether your vase is a old or a new one. Keeping them clean before you use is a must as it helps to kill the bacteria and fungi that harms the flowers to quickly fade.

2. Give Each Stem A Fresh Cut

Use a clean and sharp pair of scissors and cut the stems at a 45 degree angle. This will widen up the surface of the cut, which will help the flowers to take up as much water as possible.

3. Fill Up The Vase With Fresh Water For Fresh Flowers

One of the biggest mistake that we always make is keeping the same water until the flower dies. Changing water is very important as the stems release bacteria which  grow along the glass of the vase, which causes the flowers to droop. So always try to keep the water and vase consistently fresh and clean.

4. Feed Your Flowers

With the bouquet, you will always get a small packet of flower food, which contains 3 simple ingredients that helps the flowers stay healthy. Since you will be changing water multiple times, use a bit of this flower packet each time.

  • Critic Acid to lower the water pH
  • Sugar to provide nutrients and carbohydrates
  • Bleach kills the bacteria and fungus.

Effective alternatives that I always prefer to use :

Dissolve 3 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar per liter. Sugar nourishes the plants, while vinegar in its bacterial growth.
